Angels Landing: One Magneficent Hike

Angels Landing is one of the sought out hiking trails in Zion National Park. Almost every traveler and hiker, who’s near Utah, tend to make a day trip to hike the Angels Landing - and I can understand why. Angels Landing is by far, one of the hardest trails I’ve ever hiked. It was challenging, thrilling and breathtaking.

The trail starts from the winding path of the Grotto Trailhead pass the Virgin River. The hike to the top follows the West Rim Trail backpacking route, to the west side of the main canyon, which is 1.9 miles long.

I went with my brother and a friend, who’s never hiked a canyon like this in her life. It took us 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to the end of the Grotto Trail, but our struggles didn’t end there. We still had .5 miles to go.

The last half a mile is the most dangerous part of the hike, as it has narrow and sharp drop offs. Pulling ourselves up with chains was quite terrifying. Another hiker even stopped to tell us with a big smile on his face, “It gets worse! But it gets even better.” He certainly gave us a boost to hustle up.

Once we’ve reached the final viewpoint, our pain and misery went away.

Angels Landing soars 1,488 ft. above the canyon floor, and it boasts with marvelous views in every direction. It was breathtaking. Angels Landing certainly became the perfect place to relax, reflect and release, especially after a strenuous hike in the heat.
