Opt to Inyo National Park

“‘Twas the day after Thanksgiving and all over the world chaos with Black Friday
But along came this REI idea, to roll out of bed for a laid-back agenda
The mountains were buried by a snow slide, but it didn’t stop us to Opt Outside
It was quite an adventurous Friday and I wouldn’t have it any other way”

To avoid Black Friday’s commercial madness, a group of adventurers and I decided to participate in REI’s #OptOutside mission - to inspire others to live an adventurous life.

REI, an outdoor recreation and sporting goods company, closed all 143 retail stores on the day after Thanksgiving, to encourage employees and customers to go outside and play. According to President and CEO, Jerry Stritzke, “being outside makes our lives better,”– and I certainly concur.

This company wants me to explore, to play and to inspire? YES, count me in!

I couldn’t be any more pleased that a company like REI, changed the game on Black Friday. How brave of them to close all shops on one of the busiest days of the shopping year?! It’s crazy, expensive and very keen marketing strategy because REI just a gained a new customer.

On the day after Thanksgiving, I’ve unexpectedly explored Inyo National Park in California, practiced my photography skills and hung out with an awesome bunch – Marie, Lyssa, Carmelisa, Brandon, Nica and Piña.

Our original plan was to hike up to Lone Pine Lake. Once we arrived at the start of the trail, it started snowing – a lot. We weren’t equipped to hike in the snow, so we made our way back down to the park, and explored new trails. It was the best decision ever.

Inyo National Park had a magnificent scenery of snowy mountains, rugged rock formations and more. It was the perfect place and time to play with my camera.

Here are some of the photos I took from Mt. Whitney, Alabama Hill and Fossil Falls.
